Hey everyone it has been a while!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windows deprecated support for SHA-1 and will exclusively use SHA-2 after July 2019. If you’re on Windows 7<\/strong>, you have to install KB4490628<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and KB4474419<\/strong><\/span><\/a> for it to support SHA-2<\/strong>. Do note you must have Service Pack 1 for Windows 7<\/strong> installed to install KB4490628 and it is recommended to install KB4490628 first then reboot before installing KB4474419.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: <\/strong>What if I don’t install the said updates for SHA-2 support in Windows 7?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A:<\/strong> Windows 7 wont be able to install Microsoft\/Windows updates from August 2019. Your system will be vulnerable to exploits and hackers. Emsisoft Antimalware<\/strong> may also not work correctly and\/or stop updating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: <\/strong>I’m on Windows 10, do I need to install those updates too?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A:<\/strong> No. The updates for SHA-2 support are only relevant to legacy OS Windows 7 SP1<\/span>, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1<\/span> and Windows Server 2008 SP2<\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
